About Mary Kathryn Basnight

She was proud to join Compass in 2021 as its 15th principal broker in the Triangle. Although her Basnight Group office is located just inside Raleigh's Beltline, her real estate practice extends throughout Wake County and the greater Research Triangle Park market.

 

Mary Kathryn takes pride and joy in representing a diverse clientele ranging from luxury home sellers and buyers to those who are buying or selling for the first time. Having represented over 250 buyers and sellers in her 15 years in residential real estate she understands the stresses clients face when they buy and sell. Buying and selling usually accompany major life events- a new job, relocation, expanding family size, empty nesting, or downsizing. All these circumstances are bound in joy and excitement, but sometimes clients are dealing with the death of a family member, sickness, a divorce, or a reversal of financial circumstances. Having practiced during the Great Recession of 2008-2012 she is sensitive to the fact that each client is dealing with unique circumstances. She endeavors to treat her clients with compassion, and kindness, and most importantly to handle their transactions with skill, care, and diligence. With her previous career in commercial real estate, she understands that at the end of the day, a real estate transaction is a financial transaction.

 

Originally from Winston Salem, she came to Raleigh where she attended North Carolina State University, and except for two summers as a Congressional Intern in Washington D.C, and a seven-year stint as a national real estate manager for a Fortune 100 company she has called Raleigh home. She has raised two children who have finished graduate school and are homeowners, and can attest to the diverse, creative, dynamic, culture that Raleigh offers. She loves her home in an antique Downtown Raleigh neighborhood.

 

A lover of art, architecture, books, hiking, sailing, college football, and the Green Bay Packers she and her family spend quiet time in the Northwest North Carolina Mountains and the OuterBanks.
